She has a porcelain crown on it. I micro-etched several times now. Used the new OptiBond and it makes no difference! The incisor is not even that much out of alignment, just a bit lingually displaced. Can anyone share their proven protocol and the bonding agents you use? The patient had an open bite and good anterior alignment, so biting off the bracket is out of the question. Did it appear to etch with HF acid? ■ Member Since: 02/25/09 Post: 5 of 30 drgs Member Since: 03/09/09 Post: 6 of 30 FEB 22 2015 It sounds crazy, but I've been using porcelain primer, Assure Plus and Fuji glass ionomer. I was told by a lab to use Fuji on BruxZir material that wouldn't bond and it worked. I've been using it on all porcelain crowns now with excellent success. We micro-etch or use a green stone, apply porcelain primer and dry, apply the Assure Plus and then just place the bracket with the Fuji. No etch, although that would probably enhance the bond. Try it. ■ FEB 22 2015 fesdds Member Since: 05/22/08 Post: 7 of 30 Also following Reliance's recommendations lately on micro-etch, porcelain condition, Assure, the bond bracket (no actual etch). Been working well. ■ FEB 22 2015 distal root Member Since: 10/03/11 Post: 8 of 30 I am surprised to hear that many people use an additional porcelain primer before Assure Plus. Isn't it advertised as a universal primer? Unless I am mistaken, it should also allow eliminating the acid-etch step. I am looking forward to trying acid etch and a primer before Assure. Getting desperate. I don't think it is a zirconia crown. Looks like a feldspathic porcelain to me. ■ FEB 23 2015 vacuefactor Member Since: 06/13/10 Post: 9 of 30 If you read the instructions, Reliance says after roughening the surface you need to use the porcelain conditioner (silanating agent), let dry, Assure Plus, and then bond.
