FBLA-PBL Spring 2021 TBL - 7

PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE
By FBLA-PBL Professional Division National President Alan Rzepkowski
FBLA-PBL Members and
Professional Division Members:
FBLA-PBL, despite the pandemic year, continues to develop community-minded business
leaders at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. Our resiliency was tested,
and we showed that we remain committed to continuing fulfilling this shared mission.
This continued commitment to our mission is a testament to our student members,
local chapter advisers, and state associations that have adapted to meet these changing
times. It is also a credit to our Professional Division members who have adapted along the
way to meet our members and advisers where they are. It's worked during this time, and
with the pandemic progress we are seeing, we'll likely be able to meet again in person very
soon. In the meantime, let's make the most of what we can now to grow stronger in the
next few months to come back at our best in the new membership year.
From a high-level perspective, the National FBLA-PBL Professional Division is
undergoing changes and adjustments that have been a few years in the making...and they have nothing to
do with Covid! The National FBLA-PBL Board of Directors set forth a strategy with a goal of making our
association completely focused on our student members. This, in turn, positions our alumni and business
leader community members to have a supportive role, driven by a new goal to give back and support the
core mission of the association.
As such, the Professional Division will no longer be a category of membership. Instead, the division
will shift to an FBLA-PBL alumni business network. This network will include past members and will also
continue to include our advisers, local business leaders, parents of our members, and other individuals who
believe in the purpose and mission of FBLA-PBL to support our student members.
It's an exciting time for this transition, but it's likely to cause some questions among our local and state
chapters as well as for our Professional Division members. If this includes you, please reach out to me, my
fellow PD National Officers, or the National Center staff. Also, keep an eye on our website for additional
information about this transformation.
Speaking more specifically to the transition to an alumni and business network, the Board approved
several directives at its April 17 Board Meeting that will lead us to the next steps in our strategic plan of
becoming a student-focused association. Foremost in the directives is that the new network will continue
to have representation on the National FBLA-PBL Board of Directors. In
addition, all Professional Division Lifetime Members will retain the benefit of
complimentary registration to the national conferences. There are also on-going
discussions on how state affiliations will manage their own professional divisions.
As these programs are developed and put into place, we will continue to provide
updates to you. During this time, we ask for your patience as this transition
develops over the next several months. This will culminate as the new network
launches August 2021.
Please continue to support our local, state, and national Professional
Division programs, and let's work together to make this transition one that is
smooth and successful so that 2021-2022 brings us all great progress and success.
