FBLA TBL May 2023 - 10

CONFERENCES
PREVIEW
What's Waiting for You in Atlanta
at This Year's NLC in June
The blue blazers around every
corner. The chatter of chapters as they
mingle in the lobby. The trading of pins!
The electricity is tangible as FBLA members
come together once again for a National
Leadership Conference (NLC). So, what's
on the radar for 2023?
The Collegiate NLC will be held June 2225
at the Hilton Atlanta, while the Middle
School and High School NLC will take place
June 27-30 at the Georgia World Congress
Center. Registration for both events opened
March 1 and closes May 9 for competitors
and May 16 for non-competitors.
One exciting addition to NLC is a
scavenger hunt powered by Goosechase,
where members will be challenged to
engage in aspects of the conference by
completing missions to earn points.
Members who attended the 2022 National
Fall Leadership Conferences or participated
in FBLA Week in February know how fun
using Goosechase can be.
The Opening General Sessions will
feature fantastic speakers to inform and
motivate attendees. Jen Leary, CEO,
and Cathy Clarke, Chief Culture Officer,
of CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) will be the
featured speakers at the Collegiate NLC,
while Jordan Davis, a motivational speaker
and FBLA alumnus, will speak at the
Opening General Session for the Middle
School & High School NLC.
Leary was appointed as CEO of CLA, the
eighth-largest accounting and professional
services firm in the country, in 2021. She
previously worked at CLA as chief strategy
officer, client service leader, and managing
partner of the Carolinas. Leary earned
her bachelor's degree in accounting and
management information and systems from
the University of Delaware. Prior to her
current role, Clarke was chief quality officer,
chief assurance officer, and managing
principal of national assurance. She earned

her bachelor's degree in accounting from
the University of Minnesota's Carlson
School of Management.
Jen Leary
CEO, CLA
Davis is earning his master's degree
in learning, design, and technology at
Georgetown University. He's no stranger
to FBLA or to National and State
Leadership Conferences. In 2017, he
won first place in Public Speaking II in
Maryland and was a finalist at Nationals.
He has delivered a TEDx talk and speaks
to a wide range of audiences about how
to improve the experience of those in the
K-20 education system. Davis received his
bachelor's degree in communication from
McDaniel College.
Besides these featured speakers,
workshops for students will cover topics
such as career exploration, effective
communication, and promoting your
personal brand. Teachers and advisers can
get in on the action, too, with workshops
focused on advocacy, lesson planning, and
integrating FBLA into the classroom. Visit
fbla.org/nlc for more specific information.
In addition to NLC offerings,

Aquarium " on June 28 from 5 to 9 p.m.,
