explained Aarav. " It was so
inspiring to meet other future business
leaders and hear their stories. "
Both Aarav and Deborah agreed
that nothing compares to the sound of
their names being announced on stage
in Chicago as newly elected national officers.
This year's NLC touched the lives
of FBLA members in so many ways.
Competitive events were held
throughout the NLC, allowing members
to build connections, gain insight
into the business world, and cultivate
their passion for business. " I loved my
teammates, and they are the reason
why I continued my journey with
Parliamentary Procedure, " noted Lyria
Zhu, '22-'23 FBLA High School national
parliamentarian. " By competing in
the Parliamentary Procedure event,

I learned to host efficient business
meetings and developed a new understanding
for business law. It's been a
great way to develop skills I plan to use
during my time in office. "
At the end of the conference, all
12,000 attendees gathered for the
Awards of Excellence, which recognized
the hard work of the winning competitors.
" The awards ceremony was
an enlightening experience for everyone
present at the NLC, " said Natalie
Coon, '22-'23 North Central Region
vice president. " The energy, enthusiasm,
and overall positive vibes were so
contagious that I found myself cheering
as loud as I could for people I knew,
people I had just met, or even just other
members from my state. "
Steven Segawa, '22-'23 Western Region
vice president, agreed: " Even as a
longtime member of FBLA, I never truly
understood the size and passion of our
organization until the Awards of Excellence.
That many people cheering in one
room was something I will never forget. "

Toby Neal:
The 2022 FBLA Collegiate National
Leadership Conference (NLC) in Chicago
was my first NLC experience, and
I was so excited to finally be going to an
in-person FBLA conference. I had no
idea what to expect, apart from what
my advisor told me. All I knew was that
I was thrilled to get the opportunity to
not only compete in several events, but
also to represent North Carolina as a
state officer and network with members
from across the country.
