Ball State Online Carol Laube (left) Athletic Coaching Education Student Violin injury leads musician to master's in athletic coaching education. After more than 40 years of playing the violin professionally, Carol Laube suffered a debilitating nerve injury. A Chicago Cubs fan since childhood, Laube decided to retool for her first love: baseball. Because coaching was her logical choice, she enrolled in Ball State University's online master's in athletic coaching education. Laube says " assigned projects were incredibly useful: making an annual baseball plan, writing my personal coaching philosophy, learning a strength and conditioning program, doing marketing. " Now the associate concertmaster for the Reno (Nev.) Philharmonic, she moonlights as assistant baseball coach for Galena High School in Reno and aspires " to coach college baseball and beyond.
