Quarterbacks " celebrates players like Bob Griese, Len
Dawson and Drew Brees, while the " Den of Defensive
Ends " commemorates pass rushers like Ryan Kerrigan
and Cliff Avril.
Schott said a monument to the team's history and
tradition was a priority for football coach Jeff Brohm.
It's an attraction for fans, but it's also an effective
recruiting tool.
" We wanted to have a place to celebrate, not
only for fans, but recruits and athletes to see who
they're following in the footsteps of as they play at
Purdue, " Schott said. " And we wanted to highlight the
championships, bowl games and major award winners. "
The performance complex's lobby is just its welcoming
mat. Once athletes get deeper inside, they have access to
everything they need to become better football players,
teammates and students of the game. That includes:
* A 20,900-square-foot weight room with 24 custom
Sorinex strength training racks and a nutrition station.
* A 11,600-square-foot locker room with 120
customized wood lockers, and a video wall with four
screens totaling 16-by-9 feet.
* A 5,800-square-foot sports medicine area that
includes two hydrotherapy pools, a custom HydroWorx
therapy pool, AlterG anti-gravity treadmill, and five
high-low recovery tables with a NormaTec system for
therapeutic massage.
