Orchard Manager
Cherry Bay Orchards, headquartered in Suttons Bay, Michigan, is a family owned
growing operation with over 3,000 acres of fruit trees including tart & sweet cherries,
fresh & processing apples, along with pears and organic cherries. We are seeking an
experienced Orchard Manager. This full-time position will be primarily responsible for
overseeing and managing our crop protection program including cultivating, irrigation,
spraying and fertilization of the various orchards.
Education or Experience Requirements:
* 2 years previous high level orchard operation, horticulture and entomology
knowledge relating to tree fruit production
* 2 years previous management experience with proven ability to build and
manage a team oriented culture
* Working knowledge of employment, safety, and agricultural regulations
* Critical thinking skills and attention to detail
* Proficient IT, technical and numerical skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, bilingual beneficial (English/
Spanish)
* Strong Interpersonal skills required
* Must have mechanical aptitude (irrigation, pruning, and trellis knowledge)
Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to work 40+ hours during peak season
* Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
* Must have valid driver's license.
* Must be able to work outside in variable weather conditions
Compensation:
* Salary is based on relevant experience and certifications
