Customers want personal experiences

times silently in your head as a way
of remembering.
These were ways of creating a
tarting out in retail marketing,
I worked for a business
that heavily emphasized
customer service. We would
focus on little things like asking
the customer what " features "
they need on a particular item.
They would rattle off a list of 10
or more so we were taught to
focus on the first three features
they mentioned because those
are usually the most important.
When you introduce yourself to a
customer and they give you their
name, repeat their name three
personalized experience with our
customers and, by the way, the
customer had to come to the store.
There was no internet. In fact, we
had one of the first point of sale
systems (POS) and it was in the old
DOS computer operating system.
Today, our POS systems are
very sophisticated and can collect
so much information about our
customers, and our customers
can purchase on many platforms
without setting foot in the store.
So how do we make and maintain
a personalized experience with
our customers in the 21st century
digital shopping platforms?
If you are looking to create a
more personalized experience for
your customers, then you might
consider what your customers can
access online.
One-third of shoppers are
shopping online at least some of
the time but still shop in person at
the store. Some research I've been
following shows that the average
consumer shops at four or more
stores to meet their food shopping
needs. These shoppers also tend
to spend more - on average 20%
or more in their weekly shopping.
The customer experience should
be the same whether shopping
in your store or on your website.
Customers' online experience
needs to be an extension of the
in-store experience. This includes
social media.
