LOCKWOOD Manufacturing,

introducing a ball joint system on
all 2020 rear steering Air Cup Series
planters.
" The new, maintenance-free, ball
joint system was strategically designed
to replace the spindle system, " said
Michael Nilson, Business Unit Manager
and Chief Engineer of LOCKWOOD.
These maintenance-free units are
engineered so that no grease is required
and reduces high wear items. Replacing
the spindle, bushings, washers, spacer,
grease zerks, etc., is now only a ball
joint and two nuts. While an added
benefit is the valuable time saved, the
design also increases the performance
and longevity of the system.
" This eliminates binding and seizure
of the steering kingpins, " said Nilson.
GPS steering is known for being hard
on kingpins and the new standard
ball joint system will remove kingpins
and bushings. By removing kingpins
and bushings it will be smoother to
operate while turning going forward
or backing up.
" This relates to less down time,
reduced planting time, maintenance
costs and most important - increased
profits, " said Nilson.
