othing says " let's celebrate " quite like balloons.
Over the years, the tried-and-true partyware
has been revamped in the form of elaborate
balloon installations. These installations are typically
arches, garlands or walls. They add an air of elegance to
any celebration and further implement the party's theme
and color scheme.
" These balloon installations are made fun because you
are able to create art to fit the space and the vibe of the
event and venue, " said Ashley Sodipo, owner of Pink
Flamingo Party Co., which offers balloon installation as a
service as well as DIY balloon kits.
Sodipo created the elaborate balloon garlands pictured.
She completely customized them to the event's desired
look and took care to shape them to the space, which
involved adding layers and fullness to the garland base.
" If you are trying to create a similar garland, my best
advice is to allow ample time to try things, change things
and create layers using balloon clusters, " Sodipo said.
" Oftentimes when creating balloon installations, I will take
a quick break by taking a walk and coming back to the
garland. I often am able to get a new perspective or view of
how the garland fits in the space. "
One more tip from Sodipo: " Don't be afraid to change up
a design during installation. And remember: Balloon skills
come with practice, " she said.

MATERIALS NEEDED
* Balloons in various sizes
* Inflator or hand pump
* Fishing line

create more balloon clusters and
add them to either side.

Gather three to four sizes of balloons, ranging
from small to large.
Use a balloon inflator to partially inflate the
medium and large balloons, tying the two
tails together. Release some air before tying
to ensure the balloons look round.
Twist two bundles of two together to create
a cluster of four.
If you're using shiny chrome balloons, inflate
these in sets of two and set aside. Attach
them later.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with the small balloons,
creating clusters of four smaller balloons.
Beginning with the larger balloons, tie your
fishing line in a knot around each group of
balloons. Remember to leave one foot at the
end to hang your garland.
Wrap each balloon cluster around the fishing
line, keeping them very close together. Tie
off, and your garland is complete!
