ore than 3,700 scientists and researchers
gathered in Kissimmee, FL, in late
September for the 2022 Military Health System
Research Symposium (MHSRS).
The Defense Department's premier scientific
meeting, the MHSRS, is a joint symposium
that provides a collaborative environment for
military medical care providers with deployment
experience, military scientists, academia, and
industry to exchange information on research
and health care advancements within the areas
of Combat Casualty Care, Military Operational
Medicine, Clinical and Rehabilitative Medicine,
and Military Infectious Disease Research

Programs.
The theme of this year's symposium -
Optimizing Readiness...The Power of Military
Medical Research - highlighted the military's
commitment to overcoming seemingly
insurmountable Warfighter medical challenges.
It also highlighted progress - featuring 65
scientific breakout sessions, more than 1,300
poster presentations, and 2,347 scientific
abstract submissions after a two-year hiatus
due to COVID-19.
A series of presentations highlighted critical
military medical issues related to combat
casualty care, operational medicine,
