This session will demonstrate how technology, and specifically artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, can be used to overcome
current gaps in telecommunications. Attendees will learn about known
dispatching gaps and the basics of AI before seeing how an interactive
partnership between Corti and the Seattle Fire Department is changing
how we approach telecommunications. The session will end with a discussion of the barriers faced by both entities as they have implemented a novel technology in the real-world setting.

Keeping It Clean: The Ryan White Act and
Infection Control for EMS

A dirty needle stick or blood splashed in the eye can be a terrifying
event to a clinician. In one national study of paramedics, 22% of
respondents reported at least one blood exposure during the previous
year. Is your agency truly prepared to address the clinical and regulatory challenges of infection control? Nick, the designated infection
control officer for one of the largest county-based ALS first-response
agencies in Georgia, and Samantha, an attorney for one of the largest
hospital-based EMS systems in the Southeast, translate the legal
requirements of infection control for EMS agencies, discuss simple
changes to work practices that can greatly reduce the chance of exposure, and explain best practices for handling exposures.

and insights. What were the challenges? What have been the early
lessons learned? What are the keys to implementation? This will be
a very dynamic and interactive session with ample opportunity for
participant engagement.

Managing the Scene of Small
Airplane Crashes

During this session, prehospital care practitioners will learn how to
safely respond to a small airplane crash and recognize potential hazards. At the completion of this session, attendees will have a better understanding of the types of injuries associated with small plane crashes
and will have a better understanding of how to manage the scene and
utilize resources and personnel, all while preserving the scene of the
crash. Viewing a unique PowerPoint presentation, attendees will learn
how to respond safely, work within the Incident Command System,
safely perform rescues, and triage and treat patients. Triage is the
process of determining the priority of patients' treatments based on the
severity of their condition. Attendees will learn how to triage using triage
tags, ribbons, and tarps, and the use of a casualty collection point.
