RSI for BLS: Make Yourself Part of the Team

Airway management, especially the use of rapid sequence intubation
(RSI), has been commonly held as a procedure that only advanced
life support clinicians need to understand and perform. RSI can have
significant effects on the patients who are determined to need airway
management, both positive and negative. It can be a high-stress,
high-acuity procedure with a narrow therapeutic window. Frequently
ignored in RSI education has been the BLS clinician, who is present for
each RSI. The goal of the program is to educate the EMT in the process
of advanced airway management, especially RSI, and how they can
contribute to the overall success of a procedure that has a significant
effect on patient outcomes. We strongly believe it is the EMT that is the
" X factor " in successful and consistent RSI outcomes.

Continuing Education Credit/
Certificates of Attendance
This HMP (Provider #EMSM00012) continuing education activity is approved by the
Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).
CAPCE-approved classes are accepted by the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) for
recertification requirements. One CE is given per 1-hour class. There is no limit to
how many CE credits attendees can earn at EMS World Expo. If you have questions or

How to Obtain CE Credits
To obtain credit, you must have your badge scanned upon entering each session, spend the
required time in each session (i.e., 30 mins, 60 mins, 90 mins), and submit a course evaluation
via the mobile app.
After completing all course evaluations, you will be able to download your certificate. Be
sure to safeguard the certificate for future use.

Nursing CE
CE will be applied for through the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA)
for all main conference sessions, all Learning Center sessions, and select preconference workshops.

Brain science shows that most students' learning strategies are highly
inefficient, ineffective, or just plain wrong; and that while all learning
requires effort, better learning does not require more effort, but rather
effectively aligning how the brain naturally learns with the demands of
intellectual work. This presentation will offer straightforward strategies
for helping students prepare to learn, engage with course material, and
set about improving recall of newly learned material at will.

Critical Care/Community Paramedic CE Credit
Certain workshops and core program sessions have been approved for continuing
education activity appropriate for renewal of the Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C)
and/or Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) credential from the International
Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC). To make FP-C and/or CCP-C recertification
identification easier, attend and participate in the sessions in the Critical Care track
