DANIEL C. NEVINS

Daniel C. Nevins has been an energetic and imaginative leader as Chairman of the
Bar Association's newest standing committee - the Wellness Committee. Wellness is a
critical concern for our profession. But too often it is a topic that can be uncomfortable or
unwelcome. Dan has not only raised awareness about the importance of wellness, he's also
made it fun. In addition to encouraging members to participate in a number of 5K runs,
Dan was instrumental in organizing the first ever "Pets at the Park" event in June. Held
at the dog park in Jim Dietrich Park in Muhlenberg Township, the event had something
for everyone: a chance for pet owners and their four-legged friends to get some exercise;
quality time with family members and colleagues; and even free ice cream sundaes. If
you missed this year's event, don't worry. Dan has assured us that he will select a date this
coming June when the weather will be absolutely perfect and the Sweet Ride Ice Cream
Truck will be available.

MICHAEL C. WIEDER

The winner of the Inaugural Fall 50/50 Campaign and the Berks County Bar Association
left this year's Annual Meeting a little richer than when the evening began thanks to
Michael "Mike" C. Wieder. Mike jumped - almost literally - at the chance to help
the Bar Association launch its inaugural Fall 50/50 campaign. While attending the
Conference of County Bar Leaders in State College in February, Mike learned that other
counties held successful 50/50 campaigns. He boldly claimed that the Bar Association
would "make a ton of money" with a 50/50 campaign. And from the moment our 50/50
tickets were printed, Mike worked tirelessly to make sure it was a success. He was by far
our top ticket-seller, frequently dashing from the Courthouse to the Bar Building to drop
off tickets he had sold and scurrying off with a fresh batch of tickets in hand. This year's
Fall 50/50 Campaign simply would not have been as successful without Mike's limitless
enthusiasm and outstanding sales skills. You may not be aware but Mike spends one
night a week teaching his Law Explorer class about legal issues and what it takes to be a
practicing attorney in Berks County.

JOAN E. LONDON

Joan E. London distinguished herself as a clear-eyed leader during a period of significant
change here at the Bar Association. She currently holds the title of Immediate PastPresident, but her work during this past year is sure to have a lasting impact on the future
of our Bar Association. After guiding the Board of Directors through an extensive search
for a new executive director, Joan remained engaged to ensure a smooth transition. She
has been exceptionally accessible to President Franklin and Executive Director Kori
Walter as he settled into the position. Whenever a question arises related to the role of
the Board President or Bar policy, Joan is there to respond promptly and thoroughly.
In addition, she can always be counted on to contribute articles to The Berks Barrister or
coordinate a CLE seminar.
