Windows 10 Home or Pro?
Pro is what I recommend for lawyers and law firms. Pro
includes BitLocker encryption as well as the ability to connect to a
server and other features useful to businesses.

much more than Home.
Are you still using Office 2010?
Office 2010 will reach its end of support on October 13th,
2020.
What will happen after October 13th, 2020?
* To receive support and updates, you'll need to upgrade your
software
* Office 2010 will have no additional feature or security
updates

* You'll be unable to receive free or paid support for Office
2010
What is the difference between Office 2010 and Office 365?
Office 2010 includes applications such as Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook. They're available as a one-time purchase
for use on a single PC.
Office 365 subscription plans include premium versions of
these applications plus other services that are enabled over the
internet, including online storage with OneDrive and Skype
minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed
Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including iPad® and
Android™ tablet), and phones. Office 365 plans are available as a
monthly or annual subscription.
What are the Office 365 Business Subscription Plans
available?

advanced security and device management with Microsoft 365
Business $20/month/user.
What is the difference between Office 365 and Office 2019?
Office 365 is a subscription service that ensures you always
have the most up-to-date productivity tools from Microsoft. There
are Office 365 plans for home and personal use, as well as for
small and midsized businesses, large enterprises, schools, and nonprofits. Most of the Office 365 plans for business, schools, and
non-profits include the fully installed desktop apps, but Microsoft
also offers basic plans with the online versions of Office, file
storage, and email. Microsoft is driving all of us to the subscription
model, as are many other software companies.
Office 2019 is sold as a one-time purchase, which means you
pay a single, up-front cost to get Office apps for one computer.
One-time purchases are available for both PCs and Macs. There
are no upgrade options which means if you plan to upgrade to the
next major release, you'll have to buy it. Office 365 gets feature
updates automatically. Both get security updates. Be wary of those
"deals" of $30 for an Office 2019 license. If it seems too good to be
true, it probably is.
What if I have Office 2016?
You are good for now.
Is end of support coming soon for other major Microsoft
products?
Yes, Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 and Exchange Server
2010 on January 14, 2020; SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 on July
9, 2019; SharePoint Server 2010 in October 2020.
This is months away, no rush, right?
Now is the time to schedule your upgrades, especially if you
need to purchase new computers. The demand for computers and
technician time is very high this year due to all of the upgrades,
especially this summer while people are on vacations and the
computer upgrades may be less disruptive.
