Immediate Past President Joan E. London addressed
the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) Municipal Law
Colloquium in June about how municipalities are
responding to the growth of AirBNB, VRBO and other
short-term rentals. PBI invited Joan to speak after reading
the "Hotels Next Door" artcicle she co-authored with
fellow Kozloff Stoudt attorney Kourtney Bernecker in
the Winter issue of The Berks Barrister. Joan noted that
the Pennsylvania Supreme Court recently issued a ruling
reversing a Commonwealth Court decision in the Slice of
Life LLC case featured in her Barrister article.

May 20 issue of National Review.

The Barrister.

Keith Mooney, of Barley Snyder, has been named president of the
board of directors of the Berks Arts Council in Reading. The nonprofit
Berks Arts Council holds a number of high-profile events and concerts
throughout the year in Berks County, including the Berks Jazz Fest,
the Reading Blues Fest, various educational programs and the Pagoda
Awards, which honor Berks residents that have exceptionally impacted
the county's arts community. Mooney has served on the board of directors
for eight years, and recently finished a term as the board's vice president.
Matthew Thren and Becky Lynn Shearer were married
April 27 at Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, Exeter
Township. A reception followed at Lily's Vineyard on
Skyline Drive in Alsace Township. Matthew is a Berks
County Assisatant District Attorney in the Appeals Unit.
