w w w.BERKSBAR.org In May the Berks County Bar Association celebrated Law Day with a special luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The theme this year was "The 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy." Next year marks the 150th anniversary of the Amendment that reshaped American law and society in many ways, advancing the rights of all Americans. Highlighting the theme were the essays written by fifth and sixth graders and the keynote address given by an actress portraying Rosa Parks, who was known as the "first lady of civil rights."
