cordoned off shelves. If anyone other than staff members
touch the books, the books are quarantined for forty-eight
hours. Curbside service is also available. Staff may be
contacted by email at lawlibrary@countyofberks.com or
by telephone at 610-478-3370. Staff are happy to provide
attorneys with documents electronically as well. The library's
online catalog is available through a link on the Berks County
website, which is www.co.berks.pa.us. Users can click on
departments, then Court of Common Pleas, and then Law
Library to access the catalog. The online catalog keeps track
of items that were borrowed, and also allows borrowers to
renew an item one time.

Other materials that are available include older law
review articles from institutions such as Harvard, Yale, and
Columbia, and up to date law review articles from Villanova,
Penn State, and Duquesne. Restatements of Law for
different areas of the law and Pennsylvania Bar Institute
Continuing Legal Education publications dating back to
1995 also sit on the Law Library's shelves. The library
provides access to several county law journals, and Law
Library staff has access to Bender's Forms of Discovery. Any
members seeking research assistance are encouraged to call
or email Law Library staff. Even if the Berks County Law
Library does not have access to the requested material, staff
will do their best to find an organization that does.
The Berks County Law Library has served the legal
community since 1859. That year, President Judge J. Pringle
Jones signed a Charter that established the Berks County
Law Library " for the use of the Judges of the Court, the
Members of the Bar, and the Commissioners of Berks
County. " Today, the law library is also open to the public.
Located on the 10th floor of the Berks County Courthouse,
the library is staffed by Melanie Marinaccio and Miles Klein.
Visitors are encouraged to enter through the Courthouse
located at 633 Court Street and not through the Berks
County Services Center. Library hours are Monday through
Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
