man was Dr. Dan Kimball. From day one as the society's interim
Treasurer, Dr. Kimball worked tirelessly with our finance committee,
Executive Council and myself to create a stable and structured
budgetary plan. Today we are financially healthier than we have been
for close to 20 years. Next March we are finally letting Dr. Kimball
step down as Treasurer, and I would be remiss if I didn't convey
my gratitude and express to all our members just how crucial Dr.
Kimball's work has been.
And speaking of those we will be sad to see step down, Dr.
Mike Baxter's term as Chair of the Berks County Medical Society's
Executive Council will also come to an end next March. In future
publications and events we will be honoring Dr. Baxter's six stellar
years as our Chair. But at this moment I just want to pass on a few
thoughts on Dr. Baxter's leadership. Dr. Baxter has been an agent
of change in a time when change was needed. From the day I was
hired, he was supportive of my vision for the society and a guiding
influence on healthcare policy, finances, and all of the necessary
initiatives we have undertaken. While other county medical societies
have struggled to address or even keep up with the turbulent
conditions facing organized medicine, we in Berks County have
thrived. It is truly a testament to each of our members and to our
leadership.
So once again, a big Thank You to two of the best lead blockers
I have ever followed. Because of physician members like you, our
society is still moving forward. While we may have been tripped up
from time to time, thanks to members like you we have never been
on our backs!
