M e d i c a l r e c o r d f e at u r e Member in the News William Taddonio, MD W illiam Taddonio, MD who has practiced Family Medicine in the Douglassville area for 28 years has been recognized as the Pennsylvania Family Physician of the year by the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Taddonio's practice is part of Tower Health Medical Group. He was chosen based on letters of recommendations from his peers and patients. Bill is a graduate of the Jefferson University College of Medicine where he also completed his residency training. His early interest in science led him into the field of medicine and he felt a "calling" to be a Family Physician. Bill reminds his colleagues to never lose sight of the caring reasons why we chose medicine as our profession. He especially advises medical students and residents not to be overwhelmed with the increasing administrative burdens of medicine, but to understand that our greatest satisfaction comes from our healing hands that change the lives or our patients. He offers his "Five Commandments" for 36 | www.berkscms.org medical students to help them develop into caring, successful physicians: 1) Always leave your ego at the door. 2) Learn to listen; it's not taught in medical school. 3) Treat each patient the way you want to be treated. 4) Always know your limitations and never be embarrassed to say you don't know. 5) If you don't know something you have the caring responsibility to refer to a specialist. Bill is married to Joann Sansone, DO an OB/GYN physician practicing in East Norrtin, PA. His twin boys are in their second year of residency training, Scott in anesthesiology at Geisinger Medical Center and Michael in Internal Medicine at PCOM. His daughter Kristen is a high school biology teacher and married to an electrical engineer.
