Whether we are office based and fearing
loss of the businesses we have dedicated
our lives to building, or hospital based
and trusting that the PPE supplied
will keep us from contracting and
personally dying (not to mention the
fear of bringing home illness to our
loved ones), there has been massive
amount of stress. And who knows
what is going to happen in the medical
legal world when this is all done, even
with Governor Wolf 's edict regarding
legal protection in the crisis. Many
commentators have spoken about the
mental health pandemic that will follow
the viral pandemic and how this could
be a larger effect than anyone expects.
As we continue into the Fall, we are
still facing the struggles that COVID19 poses. From quarantines and
lockdowns to wearing masks in public,
children attempting to safely return to
school, sporting events with minimal
or no fans, and businesses shutting
their doors temporarily or for good,
this pandemic has potentially changed
the way that we look at everyday life
for a very long time, not to mention
the way that we interact with others.
Healthcare workers have been faced
with challenges that no one could
have expected and have faced them
without hesitation. It has not been
easy. Not by any means. Physician
Burnout has been an issue long before
the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has
likely been exacerbated this year.
That's why Bucks County Medical
Society and Montgomery County
Medical Society are happy to announce
that Healing the Healer: Solutions for
Physician Burnout will be returning
this Fall. As you may recall, Healing
the Healer was originally scheduled
for late-March this year but was
postponed due to COVID-19. Now,
it'll be returning as a two-part virtual
series, that will be CME associated.

The first session will focus on the financial impact of COVID on
physicians and their practices, and will be hosted by Wilson Jackson,
MD, FACP, FACG, AGAF. Dr. Jackson is a practicing gastroenterologist
in the greater Harrisburg area. "Part 1: Dollars, Sense and SARS"
will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 7:00 PM.
The second session, hosted by Heather Farley, MD, MHCDS, FACEP,
will focus on physician wellness during COVID-19. Dr. Farley is a
Professor of Emergency Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College
at Thomas Jefferson University, and serves as Chief Wellness Officer
at ChristianaCare. "Part 2: Survival & Burnout During COVID19" will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 9:00 AM.
