months, through working with the volunteer and staff providers
at CVIM, she has worked hard to improve her health through
lifestyle adjustments like diet and exercise. Her A1C levels
have drastically improved, and she no longer requires insulin.
Sinforosa says, "I have learned many things from CVIM, and
I thank God for the clinic. CVIM has helped me so much that
I truly do not have the words to describe how grateful I am for
the help I have received here."
Dr. Reitano says, "The reason that I, and all of the
volunteers, keep returning is because of the positive
environment at CVIM. Everyone who is here wants to
be here and is enthusiastic - both the patients and the
volunteers. It is a positive space where we can help those who
need it."
Last year, CVIM served over 4,200 patients in nearly 46,000
visits. The need for services, and volunteers to help them, grows
every year. In fact, requests for services have increased 30% over
the past five years. Thousands of people remain uninsured and
without access to insurance coverage that they can truly afford
while living and working in the Chester County Region. Our
administrative team and key clinical staff work constantly to
reduce costs. One of the largest ways to accomplish this financial
goal is to recruit new volunteers and engage new partners so that
we can maintain the level and quality of services our patients
have benefitted from for more than 21 years.
Volunteers at CVIM have flexible scheduling options.
CVIM is open all five business days, including two evenings a
week. Traditionally volunteers serve a half day schedule or more,
and this may be completed one day a week, once a month, or it
may be dependent upon the volunteer's availability and CVIM's
need. Volunteering at CVIM is an active way to help those in
need by continuing to practice after retirement, during a leave of
absence, or in conjunction with full-time work. CVIM currently
has the need for:
* Primary care doctors and all specialists
* Dieticians
* Diabetes Educators
* Mental Health Counselors
* Nurses
* Dentists
* Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) Front Office Support and
Interpreting
