It's Been My

Great is the art of beginning,
but greater is art of ending.
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

have been involved with Chester County Medical Society for decades, as a member,
as a trustee and as a president twice in the last ten years. As one gets older time seems
to pass more quickly, each passing moment more nostalgic and more memorable.
I remember many moons ago when the society would meet in Brandywine Hospital's
library; we have come a long way and we have achieved a lot over the years. I hate to put
them on paper but it's more to reminisce for myself because I strongly believe in what
Mahatama Ghandi said above, it's effort that counts and those who know me would
agree, I give it my all and have never shortchanged anyone on my efforts.
* Most prevalent member benefit for county and state medical society members is
the day-to-day assistance provided on the practice management of our work, helping
practices to get paid for claims; to deal with denials and delays; credentialing and
many other third-party issues
* Helping practices to deal with new reimbursement policies as they gathered
"meaningful use" data, submitted it to Medicare and other payers and then learned
how new reimbursement equations will impact their bottom lines
* Ongoing "Scope of Practice" challenges during every 2-year legislative session
- dozens of other healthcare professions attempting to establish independent
practice such as CRNPs, Nurse Anesthetists, Optometrists (want to prescribe & do
procedures) and many others
* Challenging the status quo on Maintenance of Certification (MOC) (still in
* Protecting the tort reforms (including venue rules) that we accomplished in the
early 2000s - and challenged every session by the personal injury lawyers

Satisfaction lies
in the effort, not
in the attainment,
full effort is full
-Mahatama Ghandi
