Paradise Farm Camps
A Chesco Treasure

hildren's Country Week Association (CCWA) has been
connecting children to the outdoors since 1875. From its
founding, through to present day, this nonprofit organization
has had a profound impact on our community.
Most folks know of CCWA through its Paradise Farm Camps
and the youth development programs they proudly deliver. Located
in the heart of Chester County, their 600 acres of scenic natural
resources serve as the perfect place for teaching the wonders of
In the spring and the fall, their experienced and talented staff
members deliver outdoor education and team building programs.
During the summer, it is all camp, all the time.

When one pauses to contemplate the impact of the organization,
three things stand out: their special place, the dynamic programs
they deliver, and their extraordinary people.
The majority of CCWA's property is situated in East Bradford
Township. In 2004, a conservation easement was placed on the
land. Through this transaction, CCWA's Board of Directors
demonstrated their commitment to the community. Their special
place would always be here to serve each successive generation of
children in perpetuity. The easement was made possible through the
generous support of East Bradford Township, Chester County, and
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It helped preserve a significant
portion of the area quite appropriately named Paradise Valley.
When one travels through the famous twin tunnels of Valley
Creek Road, it seems is as if time has stood still. Driving on the
road, there are only a few buildings, some historic homes, and an old
Grist Mill. The meandering West Valley Creek is there the whole
way, to admire and appreciate. In addition to the tributary that
ultimately joins with the Brandywine Creek, there are mature trees,
wetlands, and meadows.
Public and private trails run throughout CCWA's property. The
public trails have signage and trailheads located on Ravine Road and
on Skelp Level Road. This past June, Paradise Farm Camps hosted
the 8th annual Trail Blazer Run. This family-friendly event helps
raise funds for East Bradford's trail development and maintenance
programs. The 5-mile course is quite challenging, but there is also a
shorter course for children and families to run or walk.
