www.CHESTERCMS.org The Art of Chester County Presents Abbe Resnick BY DR. BRUCE COLLEY I did not know! Abbe has been my neighbor for 28 years. I did not know she was an artist. I did not know of her gift and passion. It was an offhand remark she made about one of the Chester County artists featured in a previous issue of Chester County Medicine that clued me in and prompted me to ask her a series of questions. This lead to my discovery of Abbe's artistic accomplishments and talents. We have had many conversations since and I had many opportunities to view her art. "How and why," I asked. "Did we not know anything about your life as an artist?" And so the story unfolded. "I was self-conscious that I never received my art degree." "My family was old fashioned, even though it was the 1970s and all my girlfriends were soon to be attending college. I had no idea that it was not in the cards for me as I prepared for the SATs and created an art portfolio." "I was accepted and offered a scholarship to C.W. Post University on Long Island. My high school art teacher was so proud and happy for me.
