More Information & Additional Resources
1. (a) The Coatesville VA Medical Center , at http://
www.coatesville.va.gov, provides a variety of residential
rehabilitation treatment programs, including one for
PTSD, with programming and beds located on Unit 8B.
Healthcare professionals treat veterans with combat-related
PTSD using evidence-based therapies including many of
those listed above. The goal is for veterans to resolve the
issues they can, and to learn how to cope.
(b) The National Center for PTSD (see the link below)
launched a special PTSD Consultation Program in 2011
which is now available free to providers outside of the VA.
Any provider who treats veterans with PTSD can ask a
question or request a consultation about PTSD-related
issues. They also have free downloadable promotional and
informational materials to help spread the word about
their services and resources.
2. The Dept. of Veterans Administration (VA) and Dept.
of Defense (DoD) have jointly published "Clinical
Practice Guidelines for the Management of PTSD and
Acute Stress Disorder." This is patient education material
and the guidelines do not represent VA or TRICARE
policy. Specifically, the document is "not meant to define
a standard of care" since patients, their problems, and

treatment modalities vary so widely. The guidelines are
meant to help patients and caregivers to understand the
different ways that PTSD can be treated, and to discuss
treatment options in regard to each individual case.
3. Those wishing to obtain greater detail about any or all
