ver the last year, the topic of patient bias - patients treating
health care providers in a disrespectful manner because of
that individual's race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or other
aspect of difference - has been in the news. In January of
2018, the Wall Street Journal posted an article, "Racist Patients,"
and highlighted challenges physicians of difference races and
religions have experienced. Earlier, in June of 2017, StatNews'
article, "When the patient is racist, how should the doctor
respond?" shared the experience of a resident during her final
year of medical school.
