I

never know what to expect when I walk into someone's
office to conduct an interview. I try to prepare by gathering
as much information as I can in advance and hope that
the "personality" of the office will lend itself to an even more
imaginative story. If you have ever entered the Chambers of
The Honorable Stephen J. McEwen, Jr. (Spring, 2016 issue of
The Delco re:View) ... the "serious, yet whimsical," you know
what I mean.
For the purposes of an interview for our Fall issue of The
Delco re:View, I entered Robert E. J. Curran's office on 8
West Front Street in Media. His office reeks of experience,
devotion and interest, history and inspiration. There were books
everywhere, framed photos and plaques of honor that adorned the
walls, what seemed like hundreds. If every picture tells a story, I
have a story, a big story! There was little I could do to prepare for
my interview with Robert E. J. Curran, Sr., Esq., as you cannot
Google him, his speeches are extemporaneous, his keen sense
and recount of the past, uncanny. History truly is a cyclical poem
written by time upon the memories of man.

The "Serious and Extraordinarily Sporty" ...
Curran is an avid golfer, be it in Ireland, Pine Hill, New
Jersey, or in Loxahatchee, Florida. He has played a round or two
with Joe Namath, "Broadway Joe," Pro Football Hall of Famer.
Curran is pictured as a member of "The Tough Luck Club" with
Philadelphia's Ashburn, Kallas, Maddox and Carlton. Curran
persuaded Pat Quinn, who coached for the National Hockey
League's Philadelphia Flyers, to attend law school! Curran
represented Leonard Tose, owner of the Philadelphia Eagles from
1969-1985, and Scott Hamilton, American figure skater and
Olympic gold medalist. And one of my favorites that adorns his
wall, the Sports Illustrated cover "The Tribute to Muhammad
Ali 1942 to 2016," pictured is Ali shouting "Get Up" for Liston
to rise, one of boxing's most iconic images ... The two fights
