"O" My... Delco is on the "O" Line in the Big 10!
Pictured: Jonah Jackson, the Delaware County native right
out of the Borough of Media; the Penncrest High School
graduate, Class of 2015 ... The 6-foot-4, 305-pound lineman
who now suits up for the No. 2 team in the nation, rises to a
starter in Ohio State's explosive offense!
Saturday, 11/16/19 in PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- As the clock
hit zero, the players on the Rutgers and Ohio State sidelines
headed to the middle of the field for the perfunctory postgame
handshakes. But amid the mass of red and white uniforms,
something out of the ordinary happened: a line formed for
Buckeyes' starting left guard, Jonah Jackson, who transferred
from the Scarlet Knights after last season and has since excelled
in his final year of eligibility in Columbus. On this Saturday,
in Piscataway, the 56-21 Ohio State win was an emotional
homecoming of sorts for #73 Jonah Jackson, as it marked his first
time back since his transfer.
Ohio State Overview: Jonah Jackson joined the Ohio State
football program in the summer of 2019 as a graduate transfer
following a four-year career at Rutgers. This fall, the Buckeyes
had to replace four of five starters on their offensive line, but
competition was stiff. Jackson impressed right away. After just
four days of camp, Jackson became the first player to lose the
black stripe on his helmet. This ritual signifies a player going
from being a newcomer to the program to being a contributing
member of the team.

More on Jonah: With the Scarlet Knights, Jackson
redshirted as a freshman. He was an honorable mention allBig Ten pick by the coaches and media in 2018 for the Scarlet
Knights, starting 11 of 12 games at right guard. He was part of
an offensive line unit that ranked second in the Big Ten and 19th
nationally with only 1.33 sacks permitted per game. Jonah was
voted as a team captain. In 2017, he played in six games with
five starts at center. He earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as
well during his time at Rutgers, and majored in criminal justice.
At Penncrest High School, Jackson played mostly left tackle
and defensive tackle. He had the responsibility of protecting
the blind side in Penncrest's pistol offense. He was named firstteam All-Delaware County and All-Central Athletic League as a
senior. *
Note from your Editor (12/8/19): At this time, Ohio State
is No. 1 in the final NCAA Re-Rank of the regular season, with
LSU, Clemson and Oklahoma rounding out a predictable top
four. The Buckeyes landing at the top of the poll reflects their
dominant regular season. Ohio State, LSU and Clemson give the
Bowl Subdivision three unbeaten teams to cap the regular season
for the first time in the playoff era!
