Through the US Postal T he United States Postal Service recently issued a "Healing PTSD" semi-postal stamp that raises and distributes proceeds to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs for the National Center for PTSD. The "Healing PTSD" stamp features a photo illustration of a green plant sprouting from ground covered in fallen leaves, symbolizing the PTSD healing process. Another recently issued military-themed stamp includes the Military Working Dogs Forever stamp, issued on August 1, 2019, to honor the nation's brave and loyal military working dogs. The four stamp designs feature the four breeds that commonly serve the United States military: the German shepherd, the Belgian Malinois, the Labrador retriever and the Dutch shepherd. An estimated 2,300 working dogs currently serve on US military bases across the globe. Military dogs often serve as sentries and guards at US military posts, as well as assist with search and rescue operations by using their heightened sense of smell. Military dogs have served in the US Armed Forces since World War I. The Purple Heart Forever stamp was issued on October 4, 2019 and displays the medal as a way to further honor the men and women who are wounded or killed in action while in military service. * 30 | Fall/Winter 2019http://www.DelcoBar.org
