Who are these " Masked " Men?
contribution to public safety for Delaware County residents and
commitment to fight crime through educational awareness. This
local created, and generously donated, the " CID " costume, the
life-like German Shepherd Police Dog Mascot of the Office of
the Delaware County District Attorney.
Long-time Delaware County resident and renowned costume
he early days of the pandemic were marked by worries
over the availability of PPE used by health care workers
to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. When the
CDC began recommending mask-wearing for the general public,
many wondered how both health care workers and individuals
could get the masks they needed amid production shortages. It
did not take long for production to ramp up.
Businesses pivoted from making anything from snorkels,
T
jewelry, snowboards to whiskey and leveraged their
manufacturing capabilities and know-how to help meet the
unprecedented demand for personal protective equipment.
Locally, you May know one of the very giving, and creative
minded souls who knew their way around a sewing machine and
made reusable cloth masks for family, friends and community
members.
You May even recognize
one of them as the 2019
recipient of the Liberty Bell
Award of the Young Lawyers'
Section of the Delaware
County Bar Association for his
outstanding community service
and activities that promote the
spirit of our Constitution.
You May further recognize
him as the recipient of a
resolution from Delaware
County Council when he was
recognized by then District
Attorney, Jack Whelan, for his

designer, James May of Ridley Township, started his career 50+
years ago as a bridal gown designer. For well over 40 years,
he and his family have been supplying top of the line customtailored
outfits for well-known entertainers and shows such as the
Mummers, Disney on Ice, and NYC Broadway show performers.
In fact, May created the captain's costume for the Mummer's
Avalon String Band, pro-bono, in exchange for one of the Band's
authentic costumes and hat donned by the Eagles center Jason
Kelce for the Eagles Super Bowl LII Parade. The hat is now
famously referred to as the Super Bowl Championship hat.
Since that memorable parade, May has put replicas of the
famous hat to good use, creating them and donating many for
charitable causes such as the Mummers With Cancer Fund,
the Shriners Hospital for Children, and the American Heart
Association.
Together we can lend a
helping hand ... These " masked
men, " our friends Joe Tinari and
Andrew J. Edelberg, Esquire,
have been found out and about,
spreading joy and happiness
and lending a helping hand
to community throughout the
Pandemic. *
