What A Perfect Pair...
Women in the Law for LASP

Register of Wills.
For this year's fundraiser, the Second Annual, the Women
in the Law Committee of the Delaware County Bar Association
raised the Bar, literally! Aside from raising record funds, the
wines and the food were better than ever. "Private Sommelier,"
and founder of Wine Living, Marc Supsic http://www.
wineliving.info/index, and Chef Leslie Frankel, brought another
tasty presentation to Media, this year featuring six SuperPremium wines and an eclectic menu with everything from
King Oyster Mushroom flatbreads (paired with Pinot noir from
Oregon) to gourmet avocado toasts (partnered with a beautiful
Sparkling wine from Northwestern Italy).
Marc and Leslie have been working together for a little over
two years now, and the two former High-School classmates have
discovered that their individual talents complement each other
as well as Champagne and Popcorn (an unconventional, but
delicious match - try it sometime).
The pair creates all of their menus with a brainstorming
session (sometimes over a glass of wine) where they decide
which comes first - the food or the wine. Once they have an idea
of what flavors are being introduced, that then determines what
dish, or which bottle of wine, it will be paired up with.
For example, this year's event featured a "guest selection,"
a Cabernet Sauvignon (Whitehall Lane "Friends and Family,"
$25) chosen by a judge of fine wines; the Delco Bar's inside
connoisseur, if you will. Knowing that a big, bold Cabernet

would need a heavy protein to match, Marc's first thought was
steak - but it's not exactly practical to cook 50 steaks, so instead
Leslie suggested a slider sandwich. Adding peppercorns and
blue cheese to the slider gave it another layer of complexity that
brought out the spice and berry flavors in the wine.
Marc's Sommelier certification took him three intense years
to complete, and although he studied alongside some very
serious wine connoisseurs, he prefers to keep his events, and his
approach casual. "Wine still suffers from an identity problem, it
tends to take itself too seriously, and I think that keeps beginners
at a distance. I prefer to help those who like wine but haven't yet
had that epiphany. I enjoy seeing that moment when a person's
eyes light up and they get it. You're witnessing the exact moment
that a casual drinker becomes a wine lover, for life."
Marc Supsic is a certified wine and spirits professional who
studied via the WSET London. He has been conducting these
wine tasting events for over seven years now and in that time
has built a successful business around entertaining and educating
wine lovers around the Mid-Atlantic region. Marc estimates
he's led over 250 events and has met thousands of people in his
travels. His work has been featured in local news and media
publications, and he also has a Wine Living YouTube channel
with thousands of viewers.
Leslie Frankel is a seasoned professional chef with over 25
years of experience in both corporate and private environments.
She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with
a degree in Culinary Arts and has worked in NYC, England,
Colorado and New Jersey before moving to Maui, Hawaii as a
chef for The Hyatt. She opened her own restaurant on the slopes
of Haleakala Maui for 8 years. Having recently returned to PA,
Leslie now works as a private, for-hire chef. *
Providing quality legal
representation to lowincome and vulnerable
people in Bucks, Chester,
Delaware, and Montgomery Counties.
