Domestic Abuse Project
of Delaware County
Names Executive Director
Julie Avalos to Lead The Team
in Maximizing Community Impact

T

he Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County (DAP)
is excited to announce Julie Avalos as its next executive
director. DAP works to prevent domestic violence and
empower victims to move towards self-sufficiency.
Said Avalos, "DAP's mission is the perfect blend of my
personal and professional passions. I am honored to have the
opportunity to lead the organization into its next phase of
development, and look forward to increasing awareness of the
resources DAP provides as well as working closely with the
systems in Delaware County that come into contact with victims
to increase both safety and healing."
A Delaware County resident, Avalos has spent over 17
years working in Philadelphia to improve the health and social
outcomes for the city's most vulnerable citizens. As the Deputy
Director of Concilio from 2015-2019, she provided strategic
vision and oversight to a wide variety of health and social
services. Prior to her work at Concilio, Avalos served as the Vice
President of Health Promotion and Wellness at Congreso de
Latinos Unidos. Within her division, she provided leadership and
guidance for programs that focus on several public health areas,
including: services for domestic and dating violence survivors
and their children, maternal infant and child health services,
community health prevention, programming that addresses HIV/
AIDS, drug and alcohol use, cardiovascular disease prevention,
and access to health case.
"On behalf of the Board of Directors and Search Committee,
we could not be more thrilled. Julie is a visionary who fearlessly
explores what is possible and will lead DAP to be a truly

extraordinary organization, elevating its impact, position and
role in Delaware County and beyond," shared Board President
Mary Capuzzi.
Avalos joins the DAP team as they embark on planning the
next phase of high impact growth in programs, services, and
community education. After refining their internal structure
and systems and opening a new and expanded safe house, DAP
is poised to expand and deepen its reach, ensuring the most
effective response to, support for, and education of Delaware
County community members. *
About the organization: Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware
County (DAP) was founded in 1976 as part of an effort to
provide safety, advocacy, and supportive services to victims
of domestic abuse not otherwise available in Delaware
County. Today, DAP remains the sole Delaware County

violence of all 49 municipalities. To learn more about DAP,
