The 47th Annual Bench Bar Conference
Our award recipient also led the Young Lawyers Section as
its President at a pivotal time, transforming the Section into a
vibrant force within the Bar Association. Through our awardees'
efforts, the Young Lawyers' Section, under her leadership,
created what has become a signature community event, the
annual Run for the House 5k, which has raised over $50,000
for the Ronald McDonald House. In addition, our awardee
was instrumental in giving the young lawyers a visible and
professional role in our Bench Bar Conference by organizing the
efforts to have them present the annual case law updates. Rumor
has it that the after hours flip cup tournaments may have been
her brain child as well, but that hasn't been confirmed.
From the very start of her legal career here in Delaware
County, our recipient has dedicated herself to continuing legal
education for, not only our members, but for lawyers throughout
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by presenting countless
seminars for the DCBA and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Our recipient has also continually contributed to the success of
our Bar Association by being an active member of committees
such as the Bench Bar Conference Committee and Law Day
Committee.
Our awardee's commitment to leadership in the legal
community extends beyond our Bar Association; as she has
served the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section
as a member of its Council leadership as well as serving as the
Zone 9 Young Lawyers Section co-chairman.
Our awardee served as the 80th President of our Association.
Under her leadership, the partnership between the younger
members of our Association and the more senior members was
further cemented. Our awardee created a formal Bar sponsored
mentorship program, pairing young new attorneys with more
seasoned members of the Bar to ensure the continued excellence
of the legal community here in Delaware County.
Our awardee is known for her generosity of spirit and
warm and welcoming smile to all who meet her. However,
that disarming smile belies her toughness as an advocate for
her clients, both in and out of the Courtroom. She has been
recognized professionally for her high standard of excellence
in the practice of law by receiving such awards as the Nicholas
D. Vadino Award, the DCBA President's Special Recognition
Award, and the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation Pro Bono Award.
She has also been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers;

Lawyers on the Fast Track by the Legal Intelligencer; and as a
top Lawyer by Main Line Today.
Our awardee hails from the metropolis of West Grove,
Chester County, however has been a fixture on the Delaware
County Bar Association since 2005 when the firm of Sweeney
& Neary was fortunate enough to hire her as an associate. Her
dedication to the practice of law and her success as a lawyer
resulted in her becoming a partner in 2013. Our recipient has
managed all of what I have shared with you while raising her
young daughters, Emily and Olivia, with her husband, Paul.
It is my pleasure to introduce our 2019 E. Wallace Chadwick
honoree, Kristen Rushing.
