ifty plus attendees gathered at the Delaware County Bar Association for a
CLE Presentation for defense attorneys about representing youth charged
as adults ("DFJs") as well as the free mitigation and reentry resources that
are available for DFJ cases in Delaware County. The seminar was presented by
the Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project (YSRP), a nonprofit organization that
works to keep youth[s] out of adult jails and prisons. Topics covered included
mitigation and how it can be useful in defense representation and how reentry
planning can be an asset to your advocacy.
Featured speakers included: Lauren Fine, Esquire, Co-Founder and CoDirector of YSRP; Emily Robb, Esquire, Supervising Attorney at YSRP; Annie
Ruhnke, a mitigation specialist with specialized training in trauma and mental
health issues at YSRP; Max Orenstein, Esquire, Assistant Public Defender at the
Delaware County Public Defender's Office. Max is currently collaborating with
YSRP on behalf of a young man charged as an adult in a direct file juvenile case.
