The Gift of Giving ...

"Shop with a Sheriff"
One special Saturday in December,
2018, Sheriff Jerry L. Sanders, Jr., and the
Delaware County Sheriff's Office, hosted
its 4th Annual "Shop with a Sheriff." Many
thanks to the Delaware County Pennsylvania
Sheriff's Reserve Unit and local businesses,
organizations, and individual donors for your
generosity and time in making a difference this
holiday season.
Fifty specially selected children from
across Delaware County joined the Deputies
at the Springfield Walmart in a day filled
with holiday joy. Delaware County Deputies,
Newtown Square Fire Company and Broomall
Fire Company, along with Santa Claus, met
the children at Walmart and spent the morning
choosing small, yet meaningful gifts for
their loved ones and a few for themselves.
Afterwards, everyone met at Capozzoli's
Courthouse Cafe, where they enjoyed Double

Decker Pizza and Chick-Fil-A for lunch.
With the help of the Delaware County
Sheriff Reserve Unit, children were able to
have all their gifts wrapped. This year, there
was another surprise, gifts were donated by
the Fraternal Order of Police and each child
received a few extra gifts from under the
Christmas tree. This wonderful event could not
have been accomplished without the help from
the Delaware County Sheriff Reserve Unit
and the various Delaware County schools who
participated. All of the donations from across
the county were greatly appreciated and the
children were all very thankful.
The event, in the spirit of giving, is
designed to build positive community relations
between youth and law enforcement. The
gift of giving ... "from charity, and giving
back, to flowers and Teddy bears, the FBI
and DEA ... all are dear to me. As we gift
over the holidays, we recognize that sharing
our time and ourselves is such an important
part of giving. It is with great joy I watch the
children each year put so much thought into
the gifts they are now able to give to other

family members." Spotted up front with a

Editor's Note: I am so
very proud of my niece, Deputy
Samantha Price Hall (pictured)
for her participation in a
similar "Shop with a Sheriff"
program with the Bucks County
Sheriff's Office ... providing
superior services in their
criminal and civil divisions
through innovative programs
and a professional, dedicated
and inspired staff. Milton
"Milt" Warrell, Sheriff.
