December 12, 2018. Annually, a very experienced group of Trial
Lawyers and Trial Judges convene at the Delaware County Bar
Association to share their wealth of experience and knowledge
regarding settlements, trials, arbitrations and valuation of cases
before the Delaware County Court, and surrounding Counties.
This event has been held for the past 19 years as the flag
ship seminar of the ADR committee of the Bar Association. It
represents the culmination of hard work and commitment of our
Delaware County Judges and Lawyers, as they spread the word
and share the gospel of bread-and-butter settlement and valuation
practices.
In addition to The Honorable Spiros E. Angelos and The
Honorable Charles B. Burr, II, SJ, of the Civil Division, this
seminar also featured new Delaware County Civil Trial Judges,
Honorable Barry C. Dozor and Honorable John J. Whelan. The
panel and attendees were also honored to have newly appointed
Federal Jurist, The Honorable Chad F. Kenney.
The best part of the seminar is that the audience is as involved
as the panelists in an engaging dialogue, moderated by Andrew J.
D'Amico, Esquire, Chairman of the ADR committee of Delaware
County Bar Association.
The two-hour CLE event is fast-paced and over before
attendees have time to get comfortable in their seats. Even the
post-seminar activity buzzes with conversation and collegiality.
All attendees boast of some reward by way of further education,
additional settlement wisdom, or having been briefed on
Delaware County Court statistics by Gerald C. Montella, Esquire,
Delaware County Court Administrator. *

"The Ins and Outs of a PFA"
12/13/18: The Family Law Section of the Bar Association
sponsored a CLE titled "The Ins and Outs of a PFA" featuring
presenters Jennifer DiPillo, Esquire, of the Crime Victims Law
Project; Nusrat Rashid of the Rashid Firm; and Corporal Shawn
Haines, Criminal Investigation Supervisor for the Pennsylvania
State Police. This CLE/CJE, offering 1 Substantive Law CLE/
CJE Credit Hour, provided attendees with an overview of the
Protection from Abuse Act and issues related to PFAs including:
the process for obtaining PFA orders; expungement of PFA records;
Law Enforcement perspectives on handling abuse cases; and an
overview of the Pennsylvania State Police PFA database. *
