"Journey to the Future"

ecently, our household joined the growing number of "cord
cutters." We had a package price for internet, phone and
television. Over time, the channel line-up changed (channels
we watched frequently got moved to another package, channels we
never watched got added), internet speed options changed and we
never used the phone. The price increased and I realized we were
getting a lot less of what we wanted for our money. We trialed all
of the available streaming services. Two options offered what we
wanted but we had to pick a little from column A and a little from
column B. The price was no better and we still didn't have our ideal
line-up. The winner service offered one package for one price. A few
add-ons are available but the package is the package and the benefits
are the benefits. We get what we pay for and we pay for what we get.

We all have memberships to a service or an organization. We all
like to know how much we are going to pay and what we are going
to get for our money. Membership in the Greater Reading Chamber
Alliance is no different.
Since our inception more than 100 years ago, the GRCA has
undergone a lot of change and much of that change has been
necessary to continue to be a valuable business resource to the
Greater Reading/Berks County community. Likewise, businesses
and organizations in the area have also changed, constantly assessing
their needs and return on investment (ROI). The GRCA recognizes
your need to get value for your membership dollar. That need is the
primary driver behind our most recent change: the introduction of
tiered benefits.

Not-Yet members considering joining the GRCA can now
choose a membership package that suits their specific needs at that
point in time while understanding the additional benefits that can
be attained as their business grows.
Change can be difficult. The GRCA understands that fact,
and we, like all other businesses and organizations, have firsthand experience with the challenges that change brings. We also
understand we need to adapt and evolve to continue to serve the
changing needs of our members. The GRCA IS Berks County's
primary business resource for facilitating new and existing
business expansion, project funding, redevelopment, professional
training, business-to-business promotion, advocacy and workforce
development. Join us on our journey into the future!

Like most chamber of commerce organizations in the United
States, the GRCA previously offered membership based on
employee count - the "fair share" model. Smaller companies paid
less, larger companies paid more and everyone got the same stuff.
As companies added employees, their dues should have increased
accordingly.
Let's get this straight. If I'm a big company, I pay more but don't
get more? If I'm a small company and I grow, I get punished by
being asked to pay more? And I still don't get more?
Do you see the issue here?
We did too. Earlier this year, the GRCA joined the growing
number of U.S. chamber organizations (more than 30% according
to the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives) and
introduced our new tiered benefits membership packages. We
now offer NINE membership packages ranging from an annual
investment of $500 for an Incubator package to upwards of
$10,000 for a customized Chairman's Circle package and several
levels in-between.
Current GRCA members now have a defined benefit package
that rewards them for their current investment. All renewal invoices
are accompanied by a letter announcing what membership package
