GRCA Commerce Quarterly Spring 2020 - 22

Innovating while operating continued from page 21
ordinary people and prominent local institutions who are working
together with their 3D printers to manufacture thousands of face
shields for healthcare workers, police and other first responders, and
all those who are in essential positions that leave them vulnerable
to exposure to COVID-19.

Although our front door is locked, all communications with
clients, vendors and consultants is done virtually over the internet.

Liberty Mutual
Tell us way(s) that your company has been innovative
Liberty Mutual and many of the other Insurance Companies I
work with have begun issuing refunds to all of their customers in
response to Covid-19. The customers don't have to do anything, the
refund will either be automatically deposited back into their accounts
or they will receive a refund check in the mail.
Tell us way(s) that your company has helped its employees
Liberty Mutual has closed all local offices, but agents like myself
are working from home to continue to support our customer base.
Tell us way(s) that your company has helped the community
Through Liberty Mutual's Torchbearer Program, I was able to
donate both food and money to local organizations.

All production employees are working remote from the safety of
their homes. The firm has provided all employees with all of the
necessary computer equipment to do so. All project managers have
the option to work from home or in office. When in office, social
distancing is mandatory. All special 3D graphics are contracted
off-site remotely.

Although we are in lockdown, Lee Olsen, President / CEO of the
firm, still participates in his capacity as Chair of the City's Planning
Commission and serves on the Boards of Pagoda Foundation, Mt.
Penn Preserve, City Blighted Property Review Committee, County
Planning Commission, Caron Foundation's Treatment Committee
and the Planned Giving Council.

United Way of Berks County
Manpower

Tell us way(s) that your company has been innovative

Manpower has always been committed with our staff and clients
in its best possible way. During this pandemic-COVID19 we created
a new way to help our displaced employees with their application
process through a new tool called "Text to Apply." Also, we launched
a series of webinars (#WorkSmart) equipping them with the most
critical, up-to-date labor facts to make the best short-and-long-term
decisions for their organization.

United Way's Board of Directors approved the creation of the
Berks COVID-19 Response Fund to support local health and
human service nonprofits with the increased demand on services
due to the pandemic. An organizational commitment of $100,000
from United Way was made. The crisis is creating significant issues
(access to food, shelter, childcare for front-line responders, etc.) for
our most vulnerable residents and daunting challenges for nonprofits
responding to the needs. Individual gifts to the fund can be tripled,
thanks to challenge matches in place from Customers Bank and The
Kindness Coalition, Karen and John Arnold, with each providing
a $100,000 match. Donations can be made at uwberks.org or by
texting UWBCGive to 85511. As of April 8, over $582,000 has
been raised; eight grants awarded, with over 10 additional grant
applications on deck for review and more anticipated (note: fund
updates are listed on a weekly basis at uwberks.org).

Our staff members have been working with the Recruitment
Solution Team on daily virtual training to recruit remotely using
tools that were not being used before for interviews like Facebook,
Skype, and many other tools and social media platforms. Manpower
also provided the Team with the necessary equipment to perform
their job work remotely. In difficult times like this, it has never been
more important to take care of one another. At Manpower, we are
doing just that! The ManpowerGroup Foundation, which was established to support those that are most in need in our communities,
has committed to awarding relief grants to employees, associates,
and consultants that have encountered financial hardship due to
COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
Tell us way(s) that your company has helped the community
Manpower and the University of Phoenix have partnered to provide
employees our Manpower Certification Programs. This program will
provide learning skills during this pandemic and will also get them
ready to return to work with better qualifications.
