Organizationally, we are positioned to not only advance the
interests and needs of our chamber-based members, but to also lead,
strategize and carry out critical economic development initiatives
on behalf of the Greater Reading business community.
The GRCA has a dedicated economic development team with
extensive and diversified expertise. This team is strategically focused
on the following areas:

* Business Attraction: We take the lead on business
attraction efforts through marketing efforts and serve as the
primary point of contact for the Pennsylvania Governor's
Action Team, Pennsylvania Office of International Business
Development and Site Selection professionals.

* Business Retention & Growth: We take the lead on

communicating and identifying resources to effectively
address challenges and opportunities for private-sector
businesses in Berks County.

* Financing: GRCA, through Greater Berks Development

Fund (GBDF), is the Certified Economic Development
Organization (CEDO) of Berks County, allowing us to
tap into Commonwealth financing opportunities such as
Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA)
for eligible entities.

* Real Estate Development: GBDF under the umbrella of

GRCA plays an active role in real estate development efforts.
GBDF is one of the largest property owners in Downtown
Reading and has acquired 250+/- acres of developable
industrial land in Berks County.

* Total Berks Initiative: We offer technical support and

collaboration on economic development efforts throughout
Berks County municipalities.

* City of Reading Revitalization: GRCA's economic

development work within the City of Reading is multifaceted and includes partnerships with City of Reading,
Reading Parking Authority, and Berks Alliance, among others.

In 2020, we pivoted our priorities and resources to serve our
business community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The
GRCA is positioned to address the changing needs of the Greater
Reading business community. In addition, our organization and
team are committed to collaboration through strategic partnerships
at the local, regional, state and national levels to continue to advance
and enhance the economic prosperity of the Greater Reading
community.
