For this issue, we thought we'd remind everyone who can't live without their Post-It Notes that global giant 3M didn't think much of this "stumbled upon" technology for several years. In 1968, Chemist Spencer Silver was working at 3M trying to create super strong adhesives for use in the aerospace industry. He accidentally managed to create an incredibly weak, pressure sensitive adhesive that did not interest 3M management as it was seen as too weak to be useful. Five years later, Spencer found the right manager to listen to his idea, and co-worker (Art Fry) perfected the application after hearing Silver share his findings. 6 | LANCASTERTHRIVING! | Winter/Spring2017
