T

he Brickerville House Family Restaurant is located just
north of Lititz at the intersection of Routes 322 and 501.
It is a historic building dating back to the 1750s with lots
of rustic charm. The owners, a local family, are intimately
involved in sourcing quality food, cooking it from scratch, and
creating a low-key family-friendly atmosphere. The menu offers
something for everyone at a budget-friendly price. The eggs are
locally sourced as is the hormone- and antibiotic-free chicken.
The coffee (organically sourced and locally roasted) is excellent
and can be served via French press or poured into your mug the
old-fashioned way. Organic Peruvian iced coffee and organic flavored iced teas add to the drink offerings. The restaurant has an
intimate cozy feeling and has ample room to accommodate large
groups at a single table. A banquet room for corporate or family
events is also available.

which also serves ice cream from local creameries in freshly made
waffle cones.

We took our family of six to the Brickerville House Family
Restaurant early on a Sunday afternoon, which gave everyone the
option of breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Our orders provide a sample
of the extensive and varied menu: "George's Special" (sautéed fresh
spinach, bacon and tomatoes topped with two eggs over easy and
feta cheese); homemade buttermilk chocolate chip pancakes; Cuban
wraps; chicken parmesan dinner; broiled seafood platter. The food
was fresh, well-presented and served by a friendly staff.

Fall will bring various pumpkin-flavored items in the restaurant,
while the Christmas season features popular iced gingerbread
pancakes and specialty coffees. Holiday-themed events at the
restaurant and shops usually draw crowds. Even Santa and Mrs.
Claus have been known to visit with musical elves in tow during
the month of December. The six of us will be back. A six-star
rating from the Scott family equals a five-star review!

On the same property sits a collection of walkable shops selling
everything from local art and gift items to wine and handmade
candy. After our meal, we enjoyed window shopping and some
