Where do you practice and why did you settle
in your present location or community?
I am board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics and obesity
medicine - with a Masters in Nutrition and a health/wellness coach
certification. I recently developed my own 100 percent virtual
telemedicine-based medical weight management practice, " BestFit
Virtual Health + Wellness. " The idea actually came before the surge
of telemedicine during COVID, as medical weight management and
telemedicine make for a good combination, providing an innovative
approach to create a unique experience and greater accessibility for
individuals who are ready to start their journey toward better health.
We moved to Lancaster from New York City 13 years ago for my husband's
job (he is an emergency medicine physician). Though having a
different feel than NYC, we appreciate the slower pace and opportunities
Lancaster has to offer.
What do you like best about practicing
medicine?
I am a firm believer that changes in lifestyle, diet, and exercise can
improve, if not prevent chronic conditions. In my medical weight
management practice, I have the opportunity to help patients discover
the root of their problems and work with them on an individual basis,
addressing their specific needs, both mind and body - and ultimately,
to give hope. I learn from my patients every day - what works for them
and what doesn't - reinforcing the fact that with weight management,
there is no " one size fits all " model.

Are you involved in any community, non-profit,
or professional organizations? If so, please list
the groups:
The Obesity Society, Obesity Medicine Association, and Obesity Action
Coalition. I am a certified yoga instructor and belong to Yoga Alliance.
I also serve on the Board at the Woodridge Swim Club in Lititz.
What are your hobbies and interests when
you're not working?
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, practicing yoga, exercising, traveling,
meditating, being outdoors, skiing/snowboarding, and spending
time with my husband and two children.
For what reason(s) did you become a member
of the Lancaster City & County Medical
Society and what do you value most about
your membership?
I appreciate the various resources the Medical Society has to offer both
medically and socially. It keeps me informed and in the loop regarding
current medical/health issues as well as local events.
