Shining a Light
on the Need for
Connectedness

OVID-19 has dramatically changed our lives
and daily routines. The
restrictions imposed to
help ensure people socially distance
to limit the spread of COVID-19
have social consequences, including
increased anxiety and depression.
This is due to stressors such as job
loss, housing insecurities, food
insecurities, increased isolation, and
an increase in loneliness. 

In 2020, Lancaster County saw
a forty percent increase in overdose
deaths and is projected to see an
increase in suicides according to
preliminary data from the coroner's
office. At LG Health in fiscal year
2020, referrals from primary care
to behavioral health counseling
increased 16 percent, and referrals
for drug and alcohol consultations
increased 27 percent. According
to a Kaiser Pulse Survey, during
