ith the opening of Penn State
Health Lime Spring Outpatient
Center, Lancaster County
providers can offer patients
access to comprehensive imaging services closer
to home.
"For providers, this is exciting; they have
access to real-time consultations with radiologists on-site at Lime Spring who can offer more
comprehensive answers to their patients and help
to craft a treatment plan sooner," said Dr. Mark
Labuski, lead physician with Penn State Health
Radiology's new community radiology team.
Radiologists from the former Tristan Radiology Specialists are the foundation of the new
Penn State Health community radiology
team. They provide expert diagnostic imaging
services across the system's growing community
network-including dedicated service at the
new Lime Spring Outpatient Center in East
Hempfield Township.
Leading-edge MRI, CT scan, mammography, ultrasound, bone density measurement,

and X-ray services are available at Lime
Spring. Patients now have access to a facility
closer to home with convenient parking and
same-day services.
"In addition to being able to call directly into
our reading room and talk with a radiologist
right away, providers can also offer their patients
the convenience of waiting for their result and
then talking to them about it instantly," Labuski
said. "Physicians love it. They call us all the time."
The Lime Spring Outpatient Center also
offers access to comprehensive breast imaging
services and collaborative clinical care at the same
location, also often on the same day.
Advanced imaging-including 3D mammography, diagnostic ultrasound, stereotactic
core biopsy, and breast MRI-is available and
read by a breast subspecialized radiologist.
The East Hempfield location also offers the
opportunity to get answers sooner, said Dr. Julie
Mack, division chief of breast imaging at the
Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

When a woman has a screening mammogram
at the Lime Spring location, they can wait for
their results and speak directly with the radiologist. In case an unexpected abnormality shows
up, patients can move forward with a diagnostic
mammogram the same day. Women coming
for a diagnostic mammogram are guaranteed
to have a radiologist discuss their results with
them right away and may be able to have a
biopsy done the same day, as well, Mack said.
"The most stressful part for a woman who
is told she has an abnormality is waiting for
answers," Mack said. "Now, partnering with
our community radiology practice, we are able
to give women answers as quickly as possible,
in order to make a plan as soon as possible."
That makes both the patient and physician
happy, Mack said.
