MBA Ski Trip:
Gone With the Wind

T

he Montgomery Bar Association held its annual ski trip at
Blue Mountain on February 13, 2017. We were gone for
the day, and there was an abundance of wind - periodic
gusts of up to thirty to forty miles per hour to be more specific!
Although we risked being blown off the mountain, we braved the
blustery weather and enjoyed otherwise perfect slope conditions.
Having personally attended and enjoyed this event for the
past 14 years, I was eager to get the word out to more members
of the Bar who had not previously experienced this time-honored
tradition. Those efforts seemed to pay off as this year bar members

Geday, John Howland, Tom Keenan, Esq., Patrick Kurtas,
Joe Lynch, and Sam Millinghausen (and many of their family,
friends and guests, including my wife and seven children) all
made the trek.
At noon, we assembled in the lodge for a reception featuring
a wine, cheese and meat spread that was, as usual, perfectly
crafted by Joe Lynch and his lovely wife, Trish. While the
attendees all proved their skiing prowess during the morning
session, it takes a special ambition to hit the slopes after being
treated to an international cheese and charcuterie spread (not to
mention the chardonnay). After the lunch reception, Joe Lynch
raffled off several gift cards and items which were so generously
donated by Salter's Ski Shop. Everyone hit the slopes yet again,
while the young children took over the lodge.
I note that our law firm moved our entire office to the
lodge for the day, and we didn't miss a beat. So for those of
you wondering if it is possible to get away for the day and still
perhaps get a little work done, I promise you that it is possible.
I strongly encourage you to make the journey next year and
bring your cell phone to get some work done from the lodge
and the ski lift like many of us were able to accomplish. Or, of
course, you can enjoy the day on the slopes and just be "gone."
Hopefully next year there will not be as much wind. In closing,
I note that we all would be absolutely delighted to see you there
next year to help carry on this great tradition of getting away
with your fellow Bar members and families. Now on to warmer
weather!!
