Montgomery Bar Foundation
Celebrates 30 years!

E

xactly thirty years prior to the penning of this article (March
10, 1987), the founding Board of the Montgomery Bar
Foundation convened its first meeting. Since its inception,
the Foundation has advanced and supported countless justicerelated causes throughout Montgomery County (see sidebar on
p. 11). In this workaday world, it is important to celebrate such
accomplishments with gusto. In true "work-hard/play-hard" fashion,
the Foundation, along with The Ardmore Music Hall, will play host
on Thursday evening, June 1st, to LAWYERPALOOZA: a oncein-a-lifetime community rock concert and fundraiser, performed
almost exclusively by member attorneys who, well... ROCK.
The event concept evolved as Foundation officers, Trustees and
Bar Association staff weighed in on various ideas to celebrate its
30th Anniversary, while also generating interest and awareness for
the causes it supports. While raising funds is always a goal of the
Bar Foundation, the idea of taking a break from the proverbial
high-priced, black-tie fundraiser resonated with the group. It began
with a few laughs and the tossing around of names. Many raised
eyebrows followed, as it quickly became evident that the MBA is
home to dozens of legitimate amateur and professional musicians
who perform regularly when not practicing law. A call for talent in
the Association's weekly Bar News came next, and the response was
encouraging, to say the least.
