Civil legal aid clients will find increased
accessibility at new location in
Pottstown
LASP's dedicated Pottstown team (38 years each).
Pottstown Area Rapid Transit serves the new location on N.
Charlotte St. (nearest cross streets: Lee Avenue and Grace St.),
on the "Upland Square via North End" day line. The nearest bus
stop is at the corner of N. Charlotte Street and Wilson Street.
LASP provides free civil legal services in Montgomery, Bucks,
Chester and Delaware counties. Through a centralized Helpline
(1-877-429-5994) and advocates based in all four counties,
LASP provides quality legal representation to low-income and
vulnerable clients in cases involving domestic violence, public
benefits, housing, consumer and bankruptcy, employment,
health, wills/powers of attorney, juvenile and elder law,
expungements and record sealing.

M

aintaining its longtime presence in Pottstown, while
now providing free parking and full handicapped
accessibility, LASP recently moved its western
Montgomery County office from King Street to 933 N.
Charlotte St., Suite 2-A in Pottstown.
Shawn Boehringer, LASP Executive Director, observed,
"LASP's move in Pottstown answers questions we regularly
ask: 'What may be done to enhance services to clients, and
how do we provide those services with the highest level of
professionalism?' The new office answers those questions in a
positive way. Staff will have improved space in which to work
to address the difficult issues our clients present, and clients
will have a better appreciation that their cases are handled in an
environment befitting a well-respected and established law firm."
Pottstown Office Manager Jean Gauger noted that she'd
worked out of 248 King St. for 38 years with both LASP and
its prior iteration, Montgomery County Legal Aid Service
(LASP formed in 2001 when Montgomery, Bucks, Chester and
Delaware County legal services joined forces). Catherine Guido,
Managing Attorney for the Pottstown office, and Donald B.
Cheetham, III, Staff Attorney, are also longtime members of

Through new PA Supreme Court pilot
project, Legal Aid of Southeastern PA
offers CLE credit for pro bono service
If you haven't had time to provide pro bono service because
you've been busy taking CLE courses, you now can do both at
once, by earning free CLE credits for your pro bono work at
LASP!
Through a pilot program approved by the Pennsylvania
Supreme Court and launched in 2019, attorneys who donate
pro bono service can receive continuing legal education (CLE)
credits. In offering the three-year pilot, the PA Supreme Court's
goal is to increase support for civil legal aid for low-income
Pennsylvanians. Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) now has
Approved CLE Provider status. Thus, attorneys who provide pro
bono service to LASP's low-income, vulnerable clients can get
CLE credit.
Developed in conjunction with the CLE Board, the program
allows registered Pennsylvania lawyers to receive one CLE credit
for every five hours of pro bono legal work completed, up to 3
CLE credits for 15 hours of service per compliance period.
