What's going on and what's coming up.
Run For The Hill Of It!, Saturday,
July 27th
Summer is here and MCAP's annual
USATF-certified five mile fundraising race Run
For The Hill Of It! is just days away! Taking
place Saturday, July 27th in Fairmount Park
(Northwestern Avenue and Forbidden Drive),
Run For The Hill Of It! is more than a race -
it's fun for the whole family with a one mile
fun-run, the Phillie Phanatic, face-painting,
and Federal Pretzels. To recognize 31 years of
Run For The Hill Of It! - 11 of which MCAP
has been the manager and beneficiary - we
talked to Ralph McKinney, 74, who has been running the race for
30 years. From Wilmington, DE, Ralph competes in races across
the region, but this race is special to him. He loves the distance:
"For us 5-miles-a-day runners, it's perfect!" He likes the unique
location: "I love Forbidden Drive - no cars!" And he likes what
he's running for: "Fun, fitness, and good causes. That's why I do
it. And MCAP is a great cause." And if you are intimidated by
the name of the race, Ralph assures you: "There are no hills! It's
not flat as a pancake, but it's named for Chestnut Hill, not the

MCAP & Children/Law Committee: CLE
Termination of Parental Rights, September 9th
Join members of our Bench and Bar for a half-day CLE on
the nuts and bolts of a Termination of Parental Rights (TPR)
proceeding. Whether you represent the parents or the minors,
this is a great opportunity for novice as well as seasoned attorneys
to gain knowledge on the current TPR laws and procedures.

Additionally, issues involving the use of Post
Adoption Contact Agreements (PACA) will
be discussed. MCAP Executive Director Mary
Pugh and MCAP Senior Staff Attorney Sharon
Hofer will moderate this three-hour CLE. It
will take place on September 9, 2019, from 9
AM to 12 PM (8:30 AM check-in) in the CLE
room at the Montgomery Bar Association, 100
W. Airy Street, Norristown. Light refreshments
will be served. Registration will open in
August at https://www.montgomerybar.org/
events/cle-seminars.php. MCAP advocates are
particularly encouraged to attend!

MCAP Events Committee needs YOU!
Do you like organizing events and helping great causes? MCAP
would love for you to join our Events Committee! Comprised of
board members and friends, our Events Committee meets every
two to three months to help plan, organize, and promote MCAP's
three annual events - Run For The Hill Of It! in July, the Salute to
Heroes Dinner Dance & Auction in November, and MCAP Wear
Blue on the Steps in April. To sign up or for more information,

Montgomery Child Advocacy Project's (MCAP) mission is to end
and prevent child abuse and neglect in Montgomery County through
legal services, advocacy, and education. MCAP operates as a pro-bono
model with 140+ professional attorneys (trained by MCAP) on our
roster who donate approximately 8,000 hours to our cases each year.
