MONTGOMERY B AR .O R G
MCAP
UPDATE
By Heather Evans, Director of External Relations, MCAP
Bonnie Pugh Receives Exelon's 2021 Excellence
Award for Volunteering with MCAP.
2nd VIRTUAL Run for the Hill of It - July 24 to July 31!
It's that time again. Our virtual race was so fun and such a
success last year, we're doing it again. We would LOVE to see
all of our friends in person in the beautiful Wissahickon, but
out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our runners,
sponsors, volunteers, staff, and board, we will keep the virtual
format we used last year, and have family fun all week long.
Like last year, you don't have to be a runner to participate -
you can walk, swim, do yoga, dance, ANYTHING! Just move
your body for 30 minutes. All participants will receive a special
race t-shirt, and fundraisers who bring in more than $250 will
receive an MCAP sweatshirt. We also invite law firms and other
businesses to sponsor the race. There are six levels of sponsorship
with such benefits as LinkedIn and Facebook ads throughout
the week to getting your firm's logo on the race t-shirt. Most
importantly, every level helps us to raise funds for our life-saving
mission to provide free legal representation to Montgomery
County's child victims of abuse, neglect, and trafficking. Find
more information about registration and sponsorship on our
web page (www.mcapkids.org/events/virtualrace2) and at our
Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/MCAPkids).
The Exelon Powering Communities Employee Volunteer Awards
are presented to employee volunteers to honor their exceptional
efforts in giving back to their communities; in total, the Employee
Volunteer Award program has recognized more than 250 employee
volunteers in the past 15 years and has contributed more than $2
million to nonprofit organizations. The highest honor each year is
the Excellence Award, which grants the nonprofit partner $20,000.
We are so pleased and proud that this year's recipient of the
Excellence Award is longtime MCAP advocate Bonnie Pugh, which
makes MCAP the beneficiary of the grant! Of her work with MCAP,
Ms. Pugh said: " I cannot stress enough how rewarding volunteering
for MCAP is. I get to put my special skill set as a lawyer to use for
people - children - who really need it. Everyone has skills to offer,
and there are all kinds of organizations out there that need your
help. If you are inclined, go for it! You will be glad you did. " To

Montgomery Child Advocacy Project's (MCAP) mission is to end and prevent child abuse and neglect in Montgomery County through legal services, advocacy, and
education. MCAP operates as a pro-bono model with 140+ professional attorneys (trained by MCAP) on our roster who donate approximately 8,000 hours to our
child clients' cases each year. Since our founding in 2004, MCAP has provided free legal services for more than 6,200 children. To learn more please see our website
at www.mcapkids.org.
